Hi!  I’m Sister Mary McCormick.  I’m an Ursuline Sister of Youngstown and have been since I was 19 years old.

I didn’t always know that I would spend my life as a nun.  After I graduated from high school I went to college and began to figure out what I would do with my life.

It might sound trite, but I felt drawn to live a life  following Christ and the gospel.  I tried to ignore it and thought that if I made new friends and tried new experiences the idea would go away.  But it didn’t.

Truth be told, I sensed more of a call to encounter God and I wanted to do something that made a difference in the life of people.

Looking back over the years I am certain of a few things: being an Ursuline Sister has been a great way for me to live my life.  It has been meaningful for me and, I hope, of service to the church.

I am happy living a life of prayer, community, and service.

I have had opportunities for education and for working with others for the good of the world.

It hasn’t always been easy.  I know suffering.  I have experienced pain and sorrow.

Still, I wake up every day and commit myself again to serve God and the church as an Ursuline Sister.

If you have felt a call from God or know someone who has, I invite you take the next step.  Give me a call, send an email or text.  I will put you in touch with someone who will engage you in a personal conversation to explore this idea more deeply.

We’re not career counselors or life coaches.  We just hope that we can help you sort out the various notions that draw your attention.

We believe that God still calls people to be nuns and priests.  Maybe that call is for you.

The most difficult decision I made in the whole process was the one to contact someone to talk more about whole religious life question.  But once I did that, everything else kind of fell into place.

If you are considering being a nun, take that next step now.
