The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown have served the needs of the people of the Mahoning Valley and beyond since 1874. The greatest need upon our arrival in 1874 was to serve and educate the children of the immigrant church. For decades our Sisters have administered and educated in parish schools and high schools and institutions of higher learning throughout the Diocese of Youngstown.

Today we are called to a variety of ministries with a particular concern for the poor and disadvantaged in the Mahoning Valley and beyond.

The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown are adding a new ministry – Ursuline Sisters Senior Living. Located at our Motherhouse complex in Canfield, Ohio, Ursuline Sisters Senior Living will provide 12 apartments for independent senior citizens who have moderate Social-Security incomes. Construction is expected to be completed in late spring 2013.

The ministry came about when area leaders in both the public and private sectors expressed to the Ursuline Sisters the need in our community for safe, adequate, affordable housing for the growing demographic of senior citizens of more moderate incomes. Area senior citizens helped by this project also will benefit from socialization and having access to numerous programs offered at The Ursuline Center and Motherhouse.

Our service is very important and there are ways you can help.

Ursuline Associates and volunteers are always needed to support the Sisters. The service of the Associates and volunteers is very important today. Best of all, service is a two way street – those who serve and those served both benefit.

Please consider becoming a volunteer or making a donation to the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. A donation helps us continue in our ministries where we are needed most.
